ABOUT ME
I am a highly enthusiastic teacher who recognizes multiple benefits to having music in one’s life.

I'M Mike Herndon
A Instructor of Guitar, Bass, and Ukulele based in Algonquin, IL
I have been an instructor for over twenty years and enjoy working with students of any background or experience.
My musical journey started at the age of eight when I began studying the violin. After five years of violin study, I found my true passion with the Spanish Classical guitar. I continued my formal studies at Elmhurt College and while in enrolled in school there discovered the joy of teaching. Since the point of opening my studio, I have had the honor to play with hundreds of students.

My Teaching Philosophy
We Are Drawn to Learn Music

Why Learn to Play an Instrument?
It has long been known that children who are involved in structured study of a musical instrument or other art form develop better math and reasoning skills, have a better defined understanding of responsibility, and are generally more knowledgeable in areas of art and culture.
With schools continuing to cancel art and music programs, private instrument study is a great alternative to foster a child's imagination and provide a growing sense of self confidence!Lessons build responsibility, manual dexterity, and some consider it about the same as learning a foreign language.
Lessons are not just for children or teenagers, but can be enjoyed by adults who have "always wanted to play guitar".
